Meet Patrick Stefurak, a dynamic Technical Writer at McDowell Engineers & Associates (MEA) who infuses his passion for writing and mechanical engineering into everything he does. Previously from the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, and now calls Raleigh, North Carolina, his home. However, if he could travel anywhere in the world he would take a flight to Lake Tahoe.

The proud UCLA alum holds a degree in writing which explains his excellent communication skills. His daily responsibilities at MEA include document management and control, administration of Wix and SharePoint websites, 2D & 3D CAD design, and producing replacement parts for locomotives. He takes pride in his design and production of locomotive plows, a zero-scrap project that put the first prototype into passenger rail service. When asked about his favorite part of the job, Patrick speaks of the camaraderie among his colleagues at MEA, Rail Plan, and NCDOT Administration.

Experience in mechanical engineering paired with education in writing led him to pursue a career in technical writing. Prior to entering the rail equipment field, Patrick honed his craft at Legrand Inc., manufacturing electrical products, and at Morris and Associates, producing industrial meat processing equipment.

Away from work, Patrick indulges in playing the guitar and casting out his line on trout streams. Fly-fishing is the subject that gets him talking, or you might ask him about chess, as he used to teach youth after-school classes.

Patrick is an invaluable member of this team. He works behind the scenes to improve documentation and overall efficiency in the Railyard.
